What is important to know before I start taking Cleocin (Clindamycin)?
As with many other types of antibiotics, Cleocin (Clindamycin) can cause diarrhea, which is sometimes a sign of a new infection. If you have watery diarrhea, or diarrhea that contains blood, contact your healthcare provider. Do not use Cleocin (Clindamycin) to stop the diarrhea without being told to do so by your doctor.
What is the recommended dosage of Cleocin (Clindamycin)?

Consult with your doctor if you are currently taking nondepolarizing muscle relaxants (eg, vecuronium) or succinylcholine, as their side effects may be increased by Cleocin (Clindamycin). Also, if you are currently taking Erythromycin you should talk with your doctor because it may decrease the effectiveness of Cleocin (Clindamycin).
You should not take Cleocin (Clindamycin) with food. Take the tablets with a lot of water, because it can irritate your throat. You should take Cleocin (Clindamycin) at the same time each day, and for the full length of the prescription, regardless of any noticeable decrease in symptoms.
