Take Cialis® when needed, up to one time a day, or as directed by your doctor. Each dose should be taken orally with a full glass of water, at least half an hour before planned sexual activity. Cialis® can be taken with or without food. Cialis® can help achieve an erection only when sexual stimulation occurs. You will not get an erection simply by taking the pill.
Overdose
If you suspect an overdose of Cialis®, seek emergency medical attention. Symptoms of a Cialis® overdose may include:
Chest pain
Nausea
Irregular heartbeat
Feeling light-headed or loss of consciousness
Missed dose
Cialis® is only taken when needed, therefore you cannot miss a dose. However, if you take Cialis® regularly on a daily basis and you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then to take the medicine and skip the missed dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up for the missed dose.
Notes
Do not take Cialis® for any other purpose than prescribed by your physician. Do not share this medication with others, since they may have a problem that is not effectively treated by this drug. Storage

Precautions
If you have certain conditions, you may need a dose adjustment or special tests to safely take Cialis®. Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs, or if you have or have had:
A heart disease or heart rhythm problems
Recent history of a heart attack (within the past 90 days)
Recent history of a stroke or congestive heart failure (within the past 6 months)
Angina (chest pain)
High or low blood pressure
Liver disease
Kidney disease (or if you are on dialysis)
A blood cell disorder such as sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma or leukemia
A bleeding disorder such as hemophilia
A stomach ulcer
Retinitis pigmentosa (an inherited condition of the eye)
A physical deformity of the penis (such as Peyronie's disease)
Do not take Cialis® if you have been told you should not have sexual intercourse for health reasons. Stop using Cialis® and get emergency medical help if you experience a sudden loss of vision.
Although Cialis® is not intended to be used by women, this medication is not expected to be harmful to an unborn baby. Do not use Cialis® without telling your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. Although this medication is not intended for use by women, it is not known if Tadalafil passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
Drug interactions
Do not take Cialis® if you are taking any of the following medication:
A nitrate such as nitroglycerin (Nitrostat, Nitrolingual, Nitro-Dur, Nitro-Bid, Minitran, Deponit, Transderm-Nitro, others), isosorbide dinitrate (Dilatrate-SR, Isordil, Sorbitrate), isosorbide mononitrate (Imdur, ISMO, Monoket) and others
Nitrates found in some recreational drugs such as amyl nitrate or nitrite ("poppers")
An alpha blocker (other than tamsulosin (Flomax) 0.4 mg once a day) such as doxazosin (Cardura), guanadrel (Hylorel), prazosin (Minipress), terazosin (Hytrin), alfuzosin (Uroxatral) and others.
Taking Cialis® with any of these medications may cause very low blood pressure, possibly resulting in dizziness, loss of consciousness, a stroke or a heart attack.
Before taking Cialis®, inform your doctor of all other medications you use for erectile dysfunction, or if you are using any of the following medications:
An antibiotic such as clarithromycin (Biaxin), dalfopristin/quinupristin (Synercid), erythromycin (E.E.S., EryPed, Ery-Tab, Erythrocin) or telithromycin (Ketek)
An antifungal medication such as clotrimazole (Mycelex Troche), itraconazole (Sporanox), ketoconazole (Nizoral) or voriconazole (Vfend)
An antidepressant such as nefazodone
Heart or blood pressure medication
HIV/AIDS medication, such as amprenavir (Agenerase), atazanavir (Reyataz), darunavir (Prezista), delavirdine (Rescriptor), fosamprenavir (Lexiva), indinavir (Crixivan), nelfinavir (Viracept), saquinavir (Invirase, Fortovase) or ritonavir (Norvir)
Seizure medication such as carbamazepine (Tegretol), phenobarbital (Luminal), or phenytoin (Dilantin)
This list is not complete and there may be other drugs that can interact with Cialis®. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter medications you use. This includes vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by other doctors. Do not start using a new medication without telling your doctor.
If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking Cialis®, refrain from sexual activity and seek emergency medical attention or contact your doctor immediately:
An allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, closing of the throat, swelling of the lips, tongue or face, hives)
Chest pain or irregular heartbeat
Dizziness, nausea, or angina (pain, tightness, discomfort, numbness, or tingling in the chest, arms, neck or jaw)
Swelling of the ankles or legs
Shortness of breath
Prolonged or severe dizziness
A prolonged (lasting longer than 4 hours) or painful erection
Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take Cialis® and talk to your doctor if you experience:
Headache
Indigestion
Back pain
Muscle aches
Flushing
Stuffy or runny nose
Temporary blue tint in vision or difficulty telling the difference between the colors blue and green (uncommon)
Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.

Cialis® should not be taken with excessive amounts of alcohol (e.g. 5 or more drinks). Excessive use of alcohol while taking Cialis® may increase the risk of certain side effects, such as headache, dizziness, increased heart rate, or low blood pressure.
Do not take any other drug used to treat impotence, such as Sildenafil Citrate (Viagra), Vardenafil (Levitra), Alprostadil (Caverject, Muse, Edex) or Yohimbine (Yocon, Yodoxin, others) without talking to your doctor first.
Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may interact with Cialis® The interaction could lead to potentially adverse effects. You should discuss the use of grapefruit and grapefruit juice with your doctor. Do not increase or decrease the amount of grapefruit products in your diet without discussing this with your doctor first.
